I Suck At Zain's

today is my usual day of the week that i hang out with my friends (marc and kelley).

as i see marc and kelley once a week, i weighed myself on their scale. the scale said 181.4 pounds. so, it's good to know that i have maintained my weight loss since my high intensity interval training from a few weeks ago.

that, however is besides the point. marc usually does not save newspaper articles, but he kept one in particular to show karen and i. marc had recently read in the patriot ledger (local newspaper) about a new afghan restaurant in quincy. the place was called zain's and had received some very favorable reviews in the write up. thus, marc was quite excited and wanted to try to the place today. now, i suck at zain's. i've obviously never been there.

event though i have never been to zain's, i was surprised when all of us approached the establishment. hanging in the window was a sign that said "falafel king". at first, i thought... how odd. there's a place in boston called the "falafel king" that i love to eat at when i worked in town. (in fact, the "falafel king" was the first place i brought my friend, hot amy, to when we were running around town taking pictures of cows.) naturally, i was a little skeptical of "zain's" because the place was not going by "zain's" but calling itself the "falafel king"... i've had the "falafel king" and the king is definitely in boston.

as it turns out, when i walked through the doors of the place... who should greet me? a familiar face... one that i've seen many times at the "falafel king" (the one located in town). in fact, he immediately recognized me too. he must have remembered my stunning good looks... my debonair smile... or maybe my giggle. it was quite a pleasant surprise.

and similar to the "falafel king" in town, he gave all of us a falafel to try while we waited. karen never had a falafel before, which is surprising because she likes things like that. (a falafel is a fried chickpea patty.) anyway, when she took a bite of the falafel, she immediately loved it. (cue yum-o sound from rachael ray.)

needless to say, the food at zain's/falafel king was delicious and very reasonably priced. (i had the lamb kabob plate... yum-o.) in fact, we even got a side dish of falafels for free. (i showed a little leg... batted my eyelashes... the usual.) actually, i think we got the falafels for free because the guy simply remembered me. regardless, i would definitely recommend this place to anyone. karen, marc, and kelley are already talking about going back... that is how much all of us liked the food.

i also can't wait to let hot amy know about the place too. it'll be like the good o' days when i worked in town... except now i can take pictures of cows in quincy... should there ever be cows in quincy. hopefully, the place does well at its quincy location. i'm obviously a big supporter.

yay, the king has come to quincy!

it's located at 1504 hancock street in quincy center. the place is a little past the "alba bar and grill" place.
