today, the city of boston held a rally for the newest nba champions... the boston celtics! it was the 17th championship that the most decorated sports franchise in the nba (the boston celtics) won. congratulations celtics!
to honor the achievement of the boston celtics, the city of boston had its usual parade of duck boats carrying members of the team. boston has been the sports mecca of late, as the red sox and patriots have also recently had rolling rallies. (the patriots would have had one this year had they not choked in the superbowl... stupid new york giants!)
anyway, i suck at rolling rallies. (apparently, the new england patriots also suck at rolling rallies this year too.) even though the celtics have not won a championship in over twenty years, i did not attend today's rolling rally (which i heard went in the reverse direction of the normal parade route).
the main reason for my absence from the rolling rally... my new job. as i just started my new job this week (and also the fact that my new job is located in marblehead), it made attending the rolling rally a little difficult for me today.
missing the rally definitely felt awkward. my previous job was located smack dab in town near the state house. so, it was quite easy to see the rolling rallies of the past world champions (the red sox and the patriots) within the past five years that i worked there. perhaps i was a little spoiled working in town because there were plenty of rallies to attend within that timespan.
needless to say, i felt a little nostalgic for the good o' times when i could just walk out of the office and watch the parade of champions with my friends. so sad. i wish i went to the rally today. i heard it was amazing.
