I Suck At The Scarlet Oak Tavern

today is my fifth year wedding anniversary. it's amazing how quickly time flies.

anyway, karen and i usually try to exchange traditional anniversary themed presents. (for example, the first anniversary is paper so i got her a gift certificate to a spa; the second anniversary is cotton; the third anniversary is leather; etc. leather... hee hee.)

well, the fifth anniversary is wood. (snicker snicker... okay, i'll get my mind out of the gutter.) as this anniversary snuck up on us so quickly, we decided not to exchange presents this year and consider the second floor addition as our present to one another. the rationale being that the second floor was constructed from wood. my coworker (tim) thought we should have celebrated our anniversary with fireworks (that's beside the point).

in addition to not exchanging presents, we decided to stay local this year. as we were staying local, we went to the scarlet oak tavern located in hingham for lunch. now, i suck at the scarlet oak tavern.

the place is much different from the restaurant that used to be there. the bar area has been enlarged. the area looked nice and clean. my first thought was that my brother in law (pj) and i should have brought my friends (hot amy and jen) there when we were pimping them out. after all, there would probably have been well dressed snooty hingham-ites there. karen, however, disagreed because she thought that the men at the bar would have been all married.

regardless, the food there is delicious. i had trout almondine. i had debated between that and a scallops and bacon pizza. the plate was delicious. even the corn bread they gave us was good... nice and moist. yum. of course, we also had to celebrate with dessert too. i had pecan pie; karen had a lemon mousse.

needless to say, we were both stuffed after lunch. (i think i'm doing a pretty darn good job of putting back all that weight i lost from the high intensity interval training.) i'd definitely go back.
