I Suck At The Halfway Cafe

tuesday, my bff (kerry) spent the night. she apparently had some work related thing down at otis air force base early wednesday morning. so, even military bases need emergency management.

anyway, like most times when kerry sleeps over, we go out for dinner (and possibly for some ice cream depending on the time). tuesday was no exception. in case you were curious, we did not go to the usual hot spot of "not your average joe's". kerry wanted to try something different, so we ended up at the halfway cafe in marshfield.

kerry loves the halfway cafe. apparently, her friend dave (who lives in texas) does as well. unfortunately, i suck at the halfway cafe. the halfway cafe in marshfield is fairly new (it opened a couple of months ago) and is quite tiny in comparison to the halfway cafe that i have been to in holbrook. apparently, the place used to be a sandwich place with a drive through. and like the other halfway cafe that i've been to, this place was decorated with sports memorabilia.

anyway, the food was delicious. (kerry had steak tips, karen had american chop suey, and i had a chicken panini; the latter two were part of the seven for $7 menu that the halfway cafe updates every month.) our waittress was great too. kerry had asked if she could purchase one of the glasses that our soda came in because it had the halfway cafe branding on it (which is a new thing as their glasses never had their brand on glasses before) so that she could send it down to dave in texas. (hence, that is how i found out dave loves the halfway cafe.) well, our waittress asked the manager and the manager gave her the glass for free. it's always good when you can get glasses for free without having to pilfer them.

needless to say, all of us were loving the halfway cafe. we had good food, good wait staff, good times... and kerry had a free glass. what could possibly top that? well, as it turns out, tuesday was trivia night at the halfway cafe.

i actually suck at trivia (which i could have titled this post), but i like to partake in the fun known as trivia night... especially when there are drinks involved. a company called "stump!" actually comes into the restaurant and runs the entire trivia night program. i've been to a few trivia nights before, but tuesday was kerry's first time (virgin trivia night-er... i'm glad i could be there for her first time... just kidding.)

well, let's just say, karen, kerry, and i did not do that well at trivia night. considering there was a 70s theme feel to trivia night, we didn't do awful either. we came in 5th out of 11 teams with a whopping 59 points. personally, i think some of the top 4 teams cheated, but that's just my opinion (and no, i'm not saying that because i'm a sore loser.) and the funny thing is, after prizes were awarded for trivia night, stump! held a raffle for some other parting gifts... and guess what our team won... another free glass!

so dave now has two glasses shipping his way. all in all, it was a very fun night at the halfway cafe.
