I Suck At VH1s 40 Most Softacular Soft Rock Songs

today is the normal day i see my friends (marc and kelley).

karen and i (well, karen) made dinner for everyone tonight (pulled chicken and/or pulled pork sandwiches). in addition, my mom made scallion pancakes. yes, it's an odd combination. but the food was good nonetheless. (based on hot amy's apparent enthusiasm, we probably had more fun than she did on her blind date.)

regardless, all of us started to watch vh1's 40 most softacular soft rock songs. gotta love soft rock. well, apparently karen does because she has old lady tendencies. the rest of us watched it mainly for fun. thus, i suck at vh1's 40 most softacular soft rock songs. for those of you who have not seen the show, the premise of the show is to countdown a list of songs based on a common theme (in this case... soft rock songs).

as it turns out, #1 on the list is "sailing" by christopher cross. i hate this song even though the song earned 3 awards at the 1981 grammy awards ceremony. i think the reason why i dislike the song so much is because the song reminds me of that late 70s / early 80s sound.

needless to say, karen loves the song. in fact, she wants me to get the song. after watching the show, she'd like to have the following songs (in addition to "sailing") for her ipod:

"key largo" by bernie higgins
"you needed me" by anne murray
"still the one" by orleans
"summer breeze" by seals and croft
"escape (the pina colada song)" by rupert holmes

sad. if any of you have these songs (or know of anyone who owns these songs), please let me know. i would love to get my hands on a copy of these songs.
