I Suck At Hanging Out With Karlene And Tommy

after celebrating the in-law tradition known as pseudo-christmas, i got to hang out with karen's cousins (karlene and tommy) from lowell. now, i suck at hanging out with karlene and tommy. it has been a while since karen and i hung out with karlene and tommy.

our schedules have been a little busy... even with the city of lowell telling you that there is a lot to like about lowell. luckily, karlene and tommy spent the night at our place after pseudo-christmas. so we were able to spend some more time together.

i don't remember the last time karlene and tommy spent the night at our place. of course, i have a terrible memory so that is not saying much. karlene, who remembers everything, remembers spending the night at our place before we even moved into the house. one of the things that i remember about their visits to our house was tommy spilling ceiling paint everywhere. i wonder if that was the same day. oh well.

anyway, hanging out with karlene and tommy was fun. in general, whenever we hang out with karlene and tommy, we go shopping and end up making a big purchase of some kind. this time was no different as karen and i purchased a storage bench from kohl's. (we subsequently had to return the bench because the bench was damaged and defective, which i did not learn until after most of the bench was assembled.)

we also did some shopping at the hanover mall... particularly ac moore (and bath and body works... and kb toys which apparently is going out of business). karlene is similar to karen in that she likes to create crafts. so, we generally spend a good chunk of time in crafty stores... which if you can imagine... makes me thrilled. i might just have to learn a craft so that i can better pass the time away whenever i'm in one of those stores waiting for them to finish shopping. i'm sensing... jewelry making... a la my friend's (hot amy) craft... it'll be my own "mike's originals". imagine that... a jewelry making competition... oh the possibilities.

in addition to shopping, we also ate at the omelet factory located in pembroke for breakfast. (yes, i could have titled this post, "i suck at the omelet factory"... but i didn't.) tommy was quite curious about the omelet factory. we also ate at uno's in hanover the previous night for dinner. the interesting fact about eating at both places was that the bill came out to be the same exact thing at both eating establishments. too bad we didn't play the lottery with those lucky numbers.

all in all, it was a good time. i'm glad karlene and tommy were able to come down and visit with us. i might just have a new goal now... to run a road race on the fourth of july. we'll see how that goes...
