I Suck At Wollaston Beach

saturday was quite the eventful day.

the day started off with a little visit to my friend's (hot amy) house in quincy. while karen and my friend (hot amy) corrected papers for their class together, i got to take hot amy's dogs (ben and jerry) for a little stroll around the neighborhood.

ben and jerry are my benchmark for dogs. they are the cutest little weiner dogs. i guess it does not hurt that they like to lick my face to death as well. anyway, it was quite the interesting stroll around the neighborhood... probably because ben unexpectedly pooped on the walk. as i was not prepared for the bathroom break, i had to leave the poop sitting in the middle of the street. i'm not sure if one of hot amy's neighbors saw the whole pooping incident... but i hurried the dogs and vacated the scene as quickly as possible.

as a side note, karen and i recently watched a program called "stuff happens" which stars bill nye, the science guy... and apparently pet waste is an ever increasing environmental hazard as more people want pets... more pets poop... the poop infiltrates the ground/water... bacteria levels rise, etc. add to that the plastic bags used to collect and dispose of pet poop... and well... you can imagine how bad the environment actually suffers when all is said and done. for anyone curious, bill nye recommends using bags that can break down easier when collecting poop.

anyway, following our brief visit with hot amy, karen and i then visited our friend (jen). with the absolutely gorgeous weather, jen had suggested grabbing some food and having a little picnic at wollaston beach. now i suck at wollaston beach. i have never been a hanging out at the beach type of person. i think it's because i like to be active and do something. whenever i think of the beach, i envision a bunch of people lying around on the sand... quietly basking in the sun. so to me, the beach has never been a fun idea. the picnic idea, however, i could get behind because that sounded cool.

(pictured below is jen at wollaston beach.)

anyway, karen, jen and i wheeled a little cooler to the beach with a big beach towel that we placed atop the sand at wollaston beach. surprisingly, i enjoyed myself at wollaston beach. don't get me wrong, i still will not swim at wollaston beach... but that's just me... not that i know too many people who would actually swim at wollaston beach...

regardless, i think the enjoyable part was simply hanging around with friends... eating our dinner from mister sub in quincy. (for anyone curious, i had the steak bomb... it was good.) the picnic on the beach was relaxing and fun at the same time. needless to say, i was pleasantly surprised. i may have to rethink my whole dislike of the beach thing.
