I Suck At Shaw's

saturday was quite the interesting day.

the day began with a trip to the local grocery store (shaw's). now, i suck at shaw's. i must say, going grocery shopping on the day before easter... crazy. have you ever gotten annoyed with people because they were holding up the checkout aisle? well, karen and i actually became those people holding up the checkout aisles because the card reader was not reading the gift card that we had for the grocery store. employee after employee tried to get the card reader to work... i think a total of three employees tried. sadly, none of them could get the card reader working.

normally, karen and i would probably feel bad about holding up the line. on saturday, however, we actually derived a little pleasure in holding up the line because the person behind us in the line was this woman who attempted to cut us in line moments earlier.

karen and i were patiently in line at one of the checkout aisles. we were just standing there... grocery cart and all... waiting. well, the line started to move. out of nowhere, this other grocery carriage comes cutting in front of us. so karen and i looked at the woman... to which she then asked if we were waiting in line. now, as much as i like to just hang out in the grocery store by the checkout area with a bunch of items in a shopping cart... i thought it was an odd question to ask.

nonetheless, the woman withdrew her cart and entered the line behind us. as the checkout area was getting busy, one of the managers came to our checkout aisle and told the woman behind us that she could go to the new register that was opening up. the manager then retracted her statement and told karen and i to go to the new register because we were next in line.

so not only did the woman have to get behind us once... but she had to do it another time too because she followed us to the new register. needless to say, i noticed the woman seething as she waited behind karen and i during our little card reader problem. the look on her face... priceless.

anyway, the entire card reader problem was soon solved... and by solved, i mean we had to go to customer service instead of the normal checkout aisle. the resolution took quite a while, but one of the cool things was that there was a food demo by the customer service area. the demonstration was some chicken and mushroom thing. it smelled very good as it was being cooked. needless to say, the samples tasted good as well.
