I Suck At Weddings

my body is starting to show signs of being old. gone are the days where i can stay up until the wee hours of night and still be fully functional the following day.

this past saturday, my friends (garv and leeann) got married. their wedding celebration was in one of my favorite areas of town... chinatown. too bad i stuck at weddings. the festivities began early afternoon.

given garv's stormy past with the boston globe, i was half expecting there to be picket signs and hardcore union members outside of the church protesting all things garv. luckily, that was not the case. in addition, i was half expecting my friend (hot amy) to come bursting through the church doors when the priest asked if anyone should speak now or forever hold their peace. (hot amy thinks garv is really... intellectual... if only she knew...) luckily, there was no hot amy bursting through the door. although, it would have been quite fitting had hot amy stopped the wedding. it was garv, after all, who originally gave her the moniker "hot" amy. what could have been...

my friend (kelley) thought it would have been funny too if my other friend (bill) had been affixed to the cross that hung from the ceiling... to which would have been lowered behind the altar during the ceremony. garv and bill, also have a past together... albeit it's more of the sexual tension type than the altercation over unions type. either way, yes... we're going to hell.

needless to say, there was no bill on the cross either. instead, there was a nice ceremony... highlighted by the new couple walking under a bridge of roses. (think of the armed forces... but instead of using swords... roses... although it would have been much cooler had they passed out swords to everyone in the pews.)

anyway, after the ceremony, we had some time to kill before the reception. so, we hung out at rock bottom, which is a restaurant located just up the street from the church, for a little while. my friends and i continued our drinking well into the reception... or at least... i did. scorpion bowls (cue rachael ray's "yum-o" sound)... tsing tao... heineken... whatever, i drank it. inevitably, i became a dancing machine amid the 10 course chinese meal... which was quite interesting to say the least. kelley and i had more fun shoving the food in the take home containers than eating it.

(the video below is garv and leeann's first dance.)

all in all, the wedding was fun. sadly, the fun didn't stop there as you will see...
