I Suck At Walkways

today, i can cross off another thing on the home improvement to-do list.

with the heat and humidity, i worked on finishing the walkway to my house. i suck at walkways. the walkway project was part of the entire front lawn makeover that began with the whole
sodbusting fun in may.

as the new grass grew on the front lawn, the walkway to the front door remained largely neglected... until now. my brother-in-law (pj) had an unused roll of weed fabric and some extra flagstones... so, he gave them to karen and i to use. (thanks pj!) lucky for us, we still have the huge pile of crushed stones and rocks sitting in the driveway. (the crushed stones and rocks were used for the french drain project... which currently has also been neglected... is also part of the whole sodbusting/front lawn makeover... yes, the home improvement projects just never end... this is why i never seem to have any time.)

anyway, i first layered the walkway with the stones and rocks. from there, i added the weed fabric to eliminate the growth of any weeds. placed on top of that was another layer of stone and rocks. the flagstones were then spaced and placed on top of that. lastly, to finish the walkway off, more stones and rocks were added to make the flagstones flush. yes, i know... very thrilling...

(pictured below is the walkway to the house.)

anyway, cross another project off the to-do list. yay! too bad i still have more unfinished projects to work on.
