I Suck At Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

today is the usual day i hang out with my friends (marc and kelley).

our plan today was to go see hellboy 2: the golden army in the theaters. now, i suck at hellboy 2: the golden army. in preparation of this sequel, we had watched the first movie last week.

anyway, we were all pretty excited to watch the movie at the national amusements showcase cinemas in randolph. in particular, karen and i were excited to watch the movie from the lux level as neither of us have ever been to the lux level for a movie. marc and kelley, however, have been to the lux level before.

for anyone curious, according to national amusements:

"Lux Level is a luxurious, in-theatre dining experience at select theatres. Movie-goers can indulge themselves with premium reserved-seating, where guests can enjoy in-seat dining before and during the show, as well as other special amenities. The menu features American fare, luscious desserts, and innovative specialty signature cocktails. Lux Level is available to patrons 21 and older only."

apparently, when you order lux tickets online (which marc kindly did for all of us), you get to park in the special lux parking lot which is right in front of the theater. you also get a $5 voucher per person to use while you dine.

the lux level itself is quite nice: the comfortable chairs pivot and lean back; there is a table separating the chairs that have a button on them that contacts the waitstaff; the food is actually quite delicious (i had the grilled eggplant panini... cue rachael ray's "yum-o" sound); and the drinks are equally good. i had the long island iced tea, but there are a bunch of martinis on the menu. kelley tried a strawberry and pop martini in which pop rocks coat the rim of the glass. (it was very good.) i think the lux level would be a nice place to take someone on a date.

as for the movie, hellboy 2 was very good.

(below is the trailer for the movie.)

without giving anything away about the plot, i will say that i enjoyed the movie thoroughly. unfortunately, i can't say the same for the trailers before the movie. there were a bunch of awful trailers: one with nicholas cage in bangkok as a hitman; one with jason statham in jail racing cars; the other with vin diesel in some sci-fi movie... they all looked awful.

luckily, hellboy 2 was very good... so i had no problems forgetting about those awful movie trailers. (watching those awful trailers definitely made me want to finish my own screenplay that i started last summer. after all, my screenplay couldn't possibly be any worse than those trailers.)

anyway, i had a great evening watching the movie in the lux level of the theater. it was fun!
