yesterday was the usual day that i hang out with my friends (marc and kelley).
with the horrible heat and humidity yesterday, marc asked if they could come over to our house and bask in the glory known as central air. plus recently, they were having problems with their dell plasma television and did not feel they could entertain company. (the screen was not functioning properly.)
according to kelley and her google skills, no one services dell plasma televisions because dell only sells its television parts to its own service contractors. thus, the television would have to be shipped to ohio to be serviced and repaired. with the huge cost of shipping the television and then the amount of for the repairs on top of that, marc and kelley have opted to get a new television instead.
needless to say, we were happy to have them come over. marc and kelley have also been dog sitting this week while one of their friends is away. so, we also were treated with the presence of their fine furry friend.
(pictured below is Ringo, the dog... not the former Beatle.)
anyway, we had a little cookout of hot dogs, pasta salad, beans, and kettle chips. (cue rachael ray's "yum-o"). i even got to try tofu hot dogs, which kelley brought. let's just say... tofu hot dogs have come a long way. although not god awful... they were not that great either. tofu hot dogs definitely take some getting used to.
after dinner, we decided to get psyched up and ready for hellboy 2: the golden army (which comes out this weekend in the theaters) by watching the first movie... hellboy. i suck at hellboy. luckily, marc and kelley had the movie on dvd. like marc, i get pretty excited over comic book movies. it's part of my geek tendencies... which i have apparently been feeling a lot lately.
for those who are unfamiliar with hellboy, hellboy is a demon who is raised from infancy after being conjured by and rescued from the world's ultimate villains... the nazis. hellboy then grows up to battle the forces of darkness with his huge stone right hand. sure, the quick plot synopsis i just gave doesn't make the movie sound that interesting. trust me, though, the movie is good... and not in the same sense that marc considers roadhouse "good". the movie was directed by guillermo del toro of pan's labyrinth fame.
as an added bonus last night, i got to experience for the first time... smucker's magic shell. we had ice cream while we watched hellboy. i must say... the magic shell is so good... and such a neat idea. i have never heard of the magic shell until last night. apparently, the magic shell is the stuff you pour on top of your ice cream that hardens. it was so good. then again, i love all things related to ice cream. i even tried a waffle bowl for the first time. (a waffle bowl is a waffle cone... shaped as a bowl. it makes eating ice cream so much easier.) you'd think i never had ice cream with all these novelties yesterday.
anyway, as usual i had a great time last night.
