I Suck At Dollhouse

tonight, i did what any normal person would do on a friday night... i stayed home to watch the tv premier of "dollhouse". now, i suck at dollhouse. dollhouse is the new television series created by joss whedon, creator of the greatest television show ever: buffy the vampire slayer.

the show was touted to be joss whedon's triumphant return to television. his last show was the science fiction show "firefly", which apparently only lasted one season. needless to say, that show was in 2002. so, it has been a while since he has done anything.

and thanks to my friends (marc and kelley), it seems like "dollhouse" will be joss whedon's last and final television show. marc and kelley lent me an article from rolling stone magazine about joss whedon and dollhouse. apparently, the show has been plagued from the start with differing visions between whedon and network executives.

truth be told, the network executive interference actually explains a lot in regards to the premiere of dollhouse. in my opinion, i would say the show was rather "blah". the first episode was neither great, nor awful. the show definitely lacked the usual humor seen in previous series created by whedon.

sadly, i don't know how long dollhouse will last. if the first episode is any indication, then i am guessing the series will not last too long... especially since it airs on a friday night. only people with no life (like me) will tune in to watch it. heck, karen, who was with me on friday night, has even refused to watch the show with me... so it's not looking good.

regardless, it's too bad about the "dollhouse" show. on a brighter note, joss whedon is actually looking at making a series online, like his "dr. horrible" experiment. for anyone curious, "dr. horrible's sing-along blog" is a musical series about a wanna-be supervillain played by neil patrick harris. the online experiment is his new business model and honestly... the idea actually sounds great: create a series and put it online for people to watch.

i would love to create an online series using my friends and family as actors and actresses. sadly, i would have a tough time convincing any of my friends or family to partake in that endeavor. perhaps i can entice them with alcohol. alcohol makes people agree to do silly things.

i can only dream...
