I Suck At The Villa Rosa

tonight, i celebrated registered dietitian day. sure, the celebration was a little early. according to the american dietitic association, registered dietitian day is actually tomorrow (march 11). in fact, this quasi-real holiday will be the second annual registered dietitian day this year.

anyway, in celebration of registered dietitian day, karen and i met up with a few friends (dolores, hot amy, and tom) at the villa rosa in quincy. now, i suck at the villa rosa. i don't think i have been there since karen and i took karen's nana there for dinner last year... before her incident.

regardless, karen thoroughly enjoys the eggplant pizza from the villa rosa. she was very excited to meet up with dolores and hot amy, both of whom are also dietitians, at the villa rosa. tom... or loser tom... as i sometimes have been known to refer to him as... and i were just tagging along as eye candy. for anyone curious, tom is not a loser. when a bunch of us first met him, tom was concerned that we would think he was a loser. the name "loser tom" sort of just stuck after that.

needless to say, karen and i had the eggplant pizza. (by the way, the eggplant pizza is very good. "yum-o"!) anyway, it was a fun night. adding to the enjoyable atmosphere was the 80s music that was playing at the villa rosa. my friend (andrea) would be happy to know that the theme to st. elmo's fire was played.

(the video below is the theme from st. elmo's fire.)

there were a bunch of other classic songs from the 80s that were played too. "man in motion" just stuck out because i knew it was one of andrea's all time favorites... if not the favorite.

anyway, as usual i had a good time. dolores always cracks me up... probably because we have similar interests like being fans of the greatest television show ever: buffy the vampire slayer. plus, i can constantly pick on her... all in good fun of course.

throughout the night, we talked about things like home improvement projects; the latest show on television that karen and i are addicted to... called "renovation realities" on the diy network; the wahlbergs; the new kids on the block; sebastian bach... who dolores totally adores; and a bunch of other topics like how men do not listen to women. i would probably list more topics of our discussion... had i in fact been listening throughout the night. just kidding.

eventually, the discussion turned toward the newly smitten hot amy. primarily, curious minds were wondering how old the person was that she had been dating under the guise of "being friends". with all the other questions surrounding this mysterious fellow, it almost seemed like an inquisition for hot amy.

interestingly enough, the whole thing reminded about a picture i remember seeing of hot amy sitting in a chair. the picture was taken when karen, hot amy, and my friend (jen) went to visit my other friend (pam) in bon jovi's home state of new jersey. at the time of that visit, they were likewise interrogating hot amy about her then newfound crush... and apparently decided to take a picture of the interrogation.

it's funny how that works. you would never see, at least to my knowledge, a bunch of guys clamoring together asking another guy about the details of his new found date. and if you did, i would probably say that was odd. and even if there were details, i am guessing that most of the details would be of the sordid kind. nonetheless, the whole interrogation thing was very interesting to watch and be a part of.

needless to say, i think everyone is pretty excited to meet this mystery man.
