I Suck At The Tosh Tour On Ice

Tonight was a fun night, and not because I received free feminine products courtesy of Rite Aid. U by Kotex liners were on sale for $1 this week at Rite Aid and it just so happened that I had a dollar coupon on them. Yay, free!

My friends (Marc, Kelley, and Andrea) and I had tickets for the Tosh Tour On Ice. Now, I suck at the Tosh Tour On Ice. Nevertheless, the event made for some good laughs. For anyone curious, the Tosh Tour On Ice is not on ice. It's a comedy show featuring comedian Daniel Tosh at the Wang.

Opening for Tosh was comedian Tommy Johnagin of the Last Comic Standing fame. All in all, the jokes were pretty hilarious and definitely not suitable for the 11 year old sitting in the front row with his mother. The 11 year old kid was singled out in the crowd because he was 11. It's a good thing parents know what their kids are in to.

Anyway, it was a fun time. Incidentally, the last time I was at the Wang Theatre, Kevin Costner also happened to be there. This was back when Kevin Costner was still pretty famous. So it definitely has been a while.

Regardless, I had fun. Following the show, we capped off the night by having dinner at The Fours in Quincy. Surprisingly, it was fairly empty there for a Friday night, which was fine by me because they had 80s music playing in the background. All in all, it was a good way to end the night.

I Suck At The Fours

Tonight, Karen and I decided to dine out. The location: The Fours in Norwell. Now, I suck at the Fours.

I haven't been to the Fours since August 2. For anyone curious, I just looked through my past blog posts. It's handy having a blog to remember what you did. Who needs crossword puzzles to keep you mentally sharp? Not me!

Anyway, we did not purposely plan on dining at the Fours. Karen was working late at her regular job. When she got off of work, she had to run an errand for her volunteer duties. (Karen volunteers with the Norwell Public Library.)

Apparently, as a means of fund-raising, the Friends of the Norwell Public Library (which is what Karen volunteers with) are raffling off baskets. Among the prizes in one of the baskets is a gift certificate to a restaurant. And you guessed it... that restaurant is the Fours in Norwell.

So since we were already at the Fours picking up the gift certificate, we figured that we would also grab dinner there. After all, by the time we got to the Fours it was rather late and we were both starving.

Sure, it may have seemed a little sketchy: picking up a donated gift certificate only to eat there immediately after picking it up. Like I told Karen, it was the best gift certificate we ever used at the Fours. Just kidding. Of course we did not use the gift certificate. Although, the staff there did joke with us about it.

Anyway, the Fours was delicious. I had a gorgonzola burger. The burger tasted great. Of course, at that point, anything would have tasted great because both Karen and I were starving. And as a side note, every time I think of a gorgonzola burger, I think of Medusa... for no reason other than the fact that "gorgon" is contained within the word gorgonzola. For you Greek mythology buffs, Medusa... and her hair of snakes... is a gorgon. She also could turn people to stone with a gaze. I guess you could call Medusa a "butterface".

Regardless, Karen and I also had the appetizer known as "The Dip". The dip consists of artichokes, spinach, peppers, gruyere (whatever that is), and mozzarella cheese. That too was pretty delicious.

All in all, the meal was very good. Best certificate we ever used... Just kidding.

I Suck At The Four's

On Sunday, Karen organized a little get together. The location: The Four's restaurant in Norwell. Now I suck at the Four's. The Four's in Norwell, which is just up the street from our house, recently opened not too long ago. Unfortunately, neither Karen nor I have ever gone since it opened. So Sunday provided the perfect opportunity for Karen and I to check out the place.

My friends (Jen, Andrea, Gretchen) and my favorite sister-in-law (Janine) were all able to join us. I think Gretchen may have been somewhat nervous at first because she was meeting Jen and Andrea (possible partners in crime for when she organizes a swinging single women's night out full of booze, debauchery, and men) for the first time. But as the day when on, I think she was able to relax and enjoy herself.

Anyway, the Fours was very nice. There are televisions everywhere. It's hard to get a terrible view of a television screen. Plus, the bar area is quite large. All in all, the place is setup very nicely. And like Andrea suggested, I imagine it would be fun to watch a sporting event there.

As for the food, it was good. The menu was the same as the other Four's locations that I have been to. I ended up having the California Cobb Salad. (Cue Rachael Ray's "Yum-O" sound.) What can I say? I like having hard boiled eggs in my salad.

Needless to say, it was a fun time at the Four's. Being the only guy there was definitely interesting. After all, I got to hear all about waxing. Fun, I know. Although I have to give the women credit... they must have a higher thresh hold of pain when it comes to their nether regions. Not that I would, but I cannot imagine any man handling the waxing of their private parts as gracefully.
