I Suck At Karaoke

today has been an eventful day. after working late hours again, i went to pick up karen at the ymca. karen was giving a presentation to kick off the ymca's "mad dash" event. (the "mad dash" is the ymca's version of "the biggest loser" where the person who loses the most percentage of body weight wins a prize.) basically, karen talks about how a sensible diet will help the participants lose weight for the "mad dash". as it turns out, my friend (jen) and my sister-in-law (janine) are participating in the mad dash competition. (pictured below are jen, janine and bill who attended karen's presentation.)

anyway, i hope jen and janine do well and achieve their workout goals (whatever that goal may be). interestingly enough, i also got to meet the new ymca intern (mary kate). apparently, mary kate is taking a class at... where else... simmons college. and guess who her teachers are... karen and hot amy. what a small world. too bad i didn't ask her who the better instructor was. that would have been interesting to find out... not that i am instigating anything.

after the ymca presentation, karen and i met up with a bunch of other friends at... where else... but hot amy's favorite hot spot of blue 22. my friend (kelley) got a new job and so we decided to celebrate the event. (kelley is a scientist.) it was nice to see my friends (cass, ellen, marc, kelley, and garv) again. i feel like i haven't seen all of them in awhile. as usual, we were placed in the corner of the bar. we seem to have a habit of being secluded whenever the group of us go out... probably because we could be embarrassing with our humor.

needless to say, tonight happened to be karaoke night. now, i suck at karaoke. i can't carry a tune for the life of me, which is pretty odd considering how much i love music. i guess you could say that singing to me is what dancing is to hot amy... love it, but can't do it. marc attempted to get me to do a duet with him (to the song "a little respect" by erasure), but i opted not to. we were, however, treated to a rendition of "if i had a million dollars" by garv. (pictured below is that rendition.)

anyway, all of us had a good time. it was fun.

d'oh! i just realized that today was supposed to be my weigh-in day. oh well. i guess i'll have to use another scale for this week's weigh-in as i won't be seeing marc and kelley for another week. i'll see how it goes. i'm curious what the results will be. maybe i should do the "mad dash".
