With all the hoopla about tropical storm Irene, I decided to stay home on Sunday. Sadly, I might have gone a little stir crazy.
After doing some house cleaning, I made the decision to watch Friday Night Lights until I lost power from the storm. Interestingly enough, I never lost power yesterday. So, it was one big Friday Night Lights marathon for me. Hence, I suck at Friday Night Lights.
Anyway, I have been watching Friday Night Lights at a good clip, especially considering that I was on the fifth and final season yesterday. Needless to say, I finished the series yesterday.
Truth be told, I did enjoy the series. I am not sure, however, that I would be as passionate about the show like my friend (Garv) and/or my BFF (Kerry). But yeah, it was an enjoyable show to watch, particularly watching it at times with Kerry and my friend (Andrea). I probably enjoyed that part the most.

I Suck At Chores
In addition to being my friend's (Hot Amy) birthday, Saturday was a day of chores. (Happy birthday Hot Amy!) For some time, my house has been a mess. I can usually let the house cleaning go for quite awhile. After all, I have a higher tolerance for chaos and disorder than Karen.
Unfortunately, Saturday I felt like I had to bring some order back into the house. After all, our lawn is overgrowing with weeds; Our vegetable garden is a tangled mess; Our dishes were dirty; We had loads of laundry; and with a seventeen month old (Briana) leaving crumbs everywhere, our entire house needed to be vacuumed; Too bad I suck at doing chores.
Needless to say, with a long list of to-do's, Karen and I started early. We can generally accomplish more when Briana is asleep. When Briana the Energizer bunny is awake, she gets into everything and keeps going and going and going... Hence, the disarray.
It turned out to be a very productive day. Everything on the to-do list was accomplished, which felt like a relief. Granted, the cleanliness did not last long as Briana ran amok when she was awake. But it was fun while it lasted.
And naturally, to unwind after everything, I began Friday Night Lights season 4. My friend (Andrea) was kind enough to drop off the dvds as she and Karen were going out for Hot Amy's birthday celebration.

I Suck At Friday Night Lights
Tuesday was my stark realization that I have eaten way too much protein this vacation week. That fact came to my attention when I looked at my fingernails. Whenever I eat too much protein (or meat, in particular), my fingernails seem to quickly grow.
And naturally, I am not a big fan of having my nails long. Call me old-fashioned. As a result, I had to immediately clip my nails after noticing how long they were.
Aside from that, Tuesday was pretty much a low key day at the beach. The only other highlight for Tuesday was that my friend (Andrea) and I completed watching season 2 of Friday Night Lights on dvd. Yes, I suck at Friday Night Lights.
Friday Night Lights has been like a drug this vacation week. I can't stop watching episode after episode, which explains how I was able to finish the entire second season (albeit a short season due to the writer's strike) within four days.
Anyway, it was definitely exhausting to watch the episodes into the wee hours of night, but it was fun especially when you can watch it with a friend.

I Suck At Friday Night Lights
I originally was going to title this post "I Suck At Being Single" because Friday was supposed to be my last day of being single again. Every six months or so, Karen and I bring our wedding rings to the jewelry store for a cleaning/inspection as part of the warranty. In all the years I have been married, I never had an issue with my ring. But never say never because during the last inspection, the jewelry store discovered that one of my diamonds was chipped.
As a result, the jewelry store had to take my ring to replace the diamond. So I have been "single" ever since. I was supposed to receive my ring back on Friday. And might I add, the ring looked brand spanking new. It was quite shiny... and for those who know me, they know that I am attracted to shiny objects. Unfortunately, in fixing the loose stone in my ring, the jewelry store had to re-dip my ring back into metal. And in doing so, the original engraving on my ring was lost. They were supposed to re-engrave the ring, but unfortunately they had forgotten to. Consequently, my ring had to be sent off for engraving. So I'm still single.
Naturally, what does a "single" guy do on a Friday night? What else but watch Friday Night Lights. Too bad I suck at Friday Night Lights. I have no idea if the show is still on. I happened to borrow the first season on DVD from my friend (Andrea).
When the season first aired on television, I happened to catch the very first episode. I remember watching the first episode because it was shown on the plane when Karen and I were going to Hawaii a long long time ago. To be honest, I was not really impressed with the first episode. Of course, it may have been the fact that I was watching the episode on a tiny weeny screen.
It was not until recently that I decided to give the show another try. The show came up in conversation at my BFF's (Kerry) house because my friend (Garv) loves the show. Garv also talks glowingly about Taylor Swift, which is a little bizarre since he's almost twice her age. While Garv was talking about the show, however, it turned out that my friend (Andrea) and Kerry also enjoy the show. So I guess it couldn't have been that bad, right? For me, the selling point was that the show had high school cheerleaders.
High school cheerleading is like my kryptonite. I have no idea why, other than the fact that most of the time high school cheerleaders are generally gorgeous blondes in movies and television. Sadly, in reality (at least at my high school when I was in high school) the cheerleaders were not gorgeous, blonde, or cheerful for that matter.
Needless to say, I started watching season one of Friday Night Lights. And I must say, so far the show is pretty good. I'm enjoying it so far. (And in case anyone is curious, the cheerleader in the show... is not blonde.) Hopefully the rest of the season will be just as good.
