last night, my bff (kerry) and my friend (jen) came over.
even though i was feeling rather under the weather... thanks to my friend (snot amy)... i didn't want to cancel our planned night. after all, yesterday was my trial run at movie night.
i had actually gotten the idea for movie night from my one of my friends (de). de is actually my friend's (marc) sister. apparently, de has a friend who owns a ginormous television and invites his friends over every two weeks to watch whatever movie is available.
i liked the idea so much that after karen and i purchased our ginormous television, i wanted to do the same thing... except that i wanted to have my friends over for movie night as opposed to de's friend's friends. i had loosely called the idea "free friday flicks" after the summertime event at the hatch shell in town to which myself, karen, jen and kerry had attended growing up.
anyway, my plans for movie night were unexpectedly put on hold with the birth, life and passing of my son (braden). with everything that has happened with braden, the entire month of september is almost like a blur. it's amazing how quickly it is already october.
needless to say, kerry contacted me last week and asked if we were interesting in doing a movie night. naturally, i got excited for the idea because it was what i had wanted to do when i purchased our ginormous television awhile ago.
so, the plan was to do movie night last night. like most get-togethers with a bunch of women, i'm still waiting for the pillow fight in pajamas that you customarily see in the movies and tv. sadly, there was no pillow fight... just the movie.
one of the problems with having movie night is finding a movie that will appeal to everyone. as neither jen, kerry, nor karen had any movie particularly in mind for movie night, i suggested "run fatboy run".
(the video below is the trailer for the movie "run fatboy run".)
now, i suck at run fatboy run. i had heard the movie was a romantic comedy in which a guy leaves his bride-to-be on their wedding day and then decides to run a marathon to try to win her back. as it turned out, jen... who doesn't particularly like to watch movies... wanted to see it. so, the movie was not a hard sell for karen and kerry.
and so, all of us watched the movie. the movie was very good and i think everyone enjoyed it. i would like to continue the movie night tradition, but we'll see how it goes.
as it was, i almost started to cry during the movie (and for anyone who knows me... i don't cry) when the main character in the movie was playing around with his son. it started to make me think about how i had envisioned playing around with my son, braden. unfortunately, it just wasn't meant to be.
anyway, i hope everyone enjoyed movie night because i know i did... even if i did almost cry. plus, we have a bunch of super long twizzlers that need to be finished off. my favorite sister-in-law (janine) had stopped by earlier to drop off these super long twizzlers for our movie night. the twizzlers are huge. the twizzlers may very well still be there for our next movie night.
