I Suck At The Lost Symbol

Last night, I put a slight dent in my summer reading list. I have a been a little backlogged in terms of borrowed books. So I was quite excited to finally be able to return one of those books to its rightful owner. That book: The Lost Symbol.

Now, I suck at the Lost Symbol. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown is the third book to feature Robert Langdon, the character now associated with Tom Hanks and his the stupid long hair thanks to the movie adaptations.

The plot, set in Washington D.C., centers around the quest for the Lost Symbol which unlocks the power of the Ancients. Suffice to say, the Lost Symbol is the focal point of Freemasonry. The antagonist of the novel enlists the aid of Langdon and coerces him into finding the location of the power of the Ancients by kidnapping his friend, who happens to be an influential leader of the Freemasons.

Without revealing too much detail, I thought the book was good. It should go without saying that I thought the book was definitely better written than the Twilight series.

I have actually enjoyed reading all of Dan Brown's novels. As of this post, Dan Brown has written five novels, three of which feature Robert Langdon. (The two that do not are Digital Fortress and Deception Point.) In general, I find Dan Brown's books to be a quick and fun ride. The Lost Symbol is no different.
