I Suck At Date Night

Tonight, Karen and I spontaneously had a little date night. Yes, it's true. I suck at date night. It's been a while since Karen and I went out and did something between just the two of us.

So naturally, we did what any traditional couple would do: dinner and a movie. (Hey, couples can't always be spontaneous and do exciting new activities. Karen is, after all, pregnant.) That's okay. I'm good with dinner and a movie anyway.

Needless to say, we had dinner at one of our favorite places: Not Your Average Joe's, located in Norwell. Luckily for us, we arrived right before the rush because the place got packed shortly after we arrived. It goes without saying that the food was delicious. I had the cobb burger while Karen had the waldorf salad. And I may have also devoured a basketful of bread. (Cue Rachael Ray's "Yum-O" sound.)

With the snow coming down after dinner, we decided to head home and catch a movie. The latest movie in Karen's Netflix queue: I Love You, Beth Cooper.

(The video below is the trailer for I Love You, Beth Cooper.)

The movie was good. It was the typical high school romantic comedy. Hayden Panettiere (of Heroes fame) stars as Beth Cooper. The plot of the movie is simple: the geeky protagonist, in an effort to say that he had no regrets during high school, declares to the entire class during his valedictorian speech that he loves Beth Cooper. From there, the craziness ensues.

Of course I had to enjoy the movie. Beth Cooper was a) a blonde; and b) a cheerleader in the movie. Naturally that combination must make a great movie, right? Okay. So maybe I still feel somewhat cheated during my high school experience. The cheerleaders from my high school definitely did not look like any Hollywood cheerleader I've ever seen. I guess you could say that our high school cheerleaders... brought no cheer.

Nonetheless, I still married a cheerleader. For anyone curious, Karen was a cheerleader. Sure, that was back in middle school... but she was a cheerleader nonetheless!

Anyway, it was a great date night. I had a good time.
