I Suck At Leaving Work At Work

my normal working hours are from 8:30am to 5:30pm. i usually get to work earlier than the rest of my team, so when 5:30pm sounds i feel no guilt in being the first one out the door.

generally, once i'm out the door, i usually can focus on other aspects of my life such as booze, women, and this blog (not necessarily in that order of course). i consider myself lucky that way because i know a friend who can't leave work at work. he gets all riled up over his job to the point where it's painful to ask the "how's work going" question because the diatribe that follows just seems to continue endlessly. so naturally, i try to avoid asking that question whenever i see him.

i can't really imagine getting all stressed over work... that is... until now. today, i suck at leaving work at work. as some of you may know, i have been working on a social networking project. this project is a nightmare and has been from the start. there has been no formal specifications written. and naturally, there is tight deadline in a couple of days. needless to say, i have been asked to build something based on the meandering imagination of whatever i can pull from my butt, all within a few days.

naturally, that does not bode well for my happiness. in fact, i have just spent an additional 3 hours of my life working at home, where i could be doing other stuff like enjoying my booze, my women and this blog... and sadly, i have to continue the vicious cycle again tomorrow morning. sad. at least the red sox will be playing tomorrow.
