I Suck At Keeping A Food Journal

today is the second day that i started keeping a food journal.

i must say... i suck at keeping a food journal. luckily, karen is a dietitian. she has helped me a lot with figuring out how to keep track of my food intake. it's actually quite addictive once you start... sort of like writing a blog post.

you'd think that i would have done a food journal earlier since i have access to the seedy dietitian underworld... not just with karen, but with hot amy as well. anyway, i'll admit it. up until i started my food journal, i was not ready to be serious about monitoring my food intake. i always had a general idea as to what i was consuming. i also had a feeling that i ate larger portions than i should. in addition, i always felt that monitoring food intake was for people on diets. oh, i was so wrong on all accounts.

according to the data, the amount of calories i've consumed today are approximately 1200. that is for the entire day. that is not good, considering i had 1000 calories more yesterday. if i keep this cycle up, my metabolism is not going to like me. granted, it's only been two days so it could be an anomaly.

  1. just curious....how can you be sure you're calculating the calories correctly? do you measure out your portions?

  2. It is such a seedy underworld! I'm surprised there are no TV shows about dietitians.

  3. the tv show could be something like:

    dietitian
    put the cake down!

    overweight person
back off! i swear... i'll scarf it down!

    dietitian
don't make me use this infusion pump and tpn your ass!

as for portions, nope... i don't measure them out. i generally ask karen about estimates and calculate the calories from there.

  4. I love the "TPN your ass". Sadly the average viewer probably wouldn't know what TPN is.
