I Suck At Going To Hong Kong

yay, today is the first official day of spring!

anyway, my mom should be touching down (if not already) in hong kong right about now. she left yesterday around noon time and as the flight from boston takes almost 24 hours, she should be at the special administrative region of people's republic of china (hong kong) by now. she is going to be there for about two and a half weeks to visit family and friends. one of my cousins is actually getting married the first week of april.

i wish i could have gone to hong kong. i suck at going to hong kong. i would really like to go back and meet some of my relatives before it's too late and things or situations change.

the last time i went to hong kong was about 20 years ago. it was the summer after 6th grade. so, i was just a wee little chubby asian kid. i remember it being very humid during that trip. (of course, being a little chubby asian kid didn't help with the humidity either.) i had a great time. granted, i didn't experience much of the cuisine there as i only ate meals courtesy of mcdonald's (and you wonder why i'm fat). nonetheless, i had fun with my relatives. we went to some amusement parks. i got to learn the train system (which at the time was really neat for me in comparison to the mbta subway system of boston). i know, it sounds thrilling.

anyway, my uncle (my mother's brother) passed away some time ago. i was lucky enough to have met him because i have heard that he did a lot in providing for my mom while they were growing up. so naturally, that got me thinking that i should go back to hong kong before things change more.

so hopefully some day, i'll get to go back.

  1. i remember the last time you went to hk....when you sent everyone postcards telling us that you were moving there permanently, and to call dean morris for details. needless to say, he was not too happy with you when you came back. you were such a prankster back then.
